Wright Flyer & Innovative Aircraft

The Wright Flyer (often retrospectively referred to as Flyer 1 & occasionally Kitty Hawk) was the first powered aircraft designed and built by the Wright brothers.  It was the first successful powered, piloted, controlled heavier-than-air aircraft.

    The CF 105 Arrow was a delta-wing interceptor aircraft.  Considered to be both advanced technical and aerodynamic achievement for the Canadian aviation industry, the CF-105 held the promise of Mach 2 speeds at 50,000 ft+ altitude, and was intended to serve the Royal Canadian Air Force's interceptor for the 1960s and beyond.  Maiden flight March 25, 1958.

    Stearman Aircraft Corporation as an aircraft manufacturer established by Lloyd Stearman at Wichita, KS in 1927.  Two years later, he sold it to the United Aircraft.
    In September 1934, United was forced to separate its airline & aircraft manufacturing operations, Stearman was made a subsidiary.  The Stearman plant had created its most successful and enduring product, the Model 75 Kaydet that would become the main primary trainer aircraft for the US Military during WWII.

    The DHC-2 Beaver is a single engined, high wing, propeller-driven, STOL aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada, primarily known as a bush plane.  It is used for cargo and passenger hauling, aerial application (crop dusting and aerial topdressing), and has been widely adopted by armed forces as a utility aircraft.  The U.S. Army Air Corps purchased several hundred and nine DHC-2s are still in service with the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary (Civil Air Patrol) for search and rescue.  The Beaver is one of the most famous bush planes in the world, and today the aircraft is in such demand that there is a steady market for finding surplus examples in air museums and rebuilding them.  Maiden flight August 16, 1947.
