The MQ-1 Predator is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which the United States Air Force describes as a MALE (medium-altitude, long-endurance) UAV system.  It can serve in a reconnaissance role and fire two AGM-114 Hellfire missiles.  The aircraft, in use since 1995, has seen combat over Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bosnia, Serbia, Iraq, and Yemen.  It is remote-controlled by humans, not an autonomous aircraft.  The Predator can also self destruct.  Maiden flight 1995.

    The B-1 Lancer is an American supersonic strategic bomber with variable-sweep wings.  Its origins began in the 1960s as a supersonic bomber with sufficient range and payload to replace the B-52 Stratofortress.  Maiden flight December 23, 1974.

    The Convair B-36 was a strategic bomber built by Convair for the USAF, the first operational bomber to truly have intercontinental range.  Unofficially nicknamed the "Peacemaker", the B-36 was the first thermonuclear weapon delivery vehicle.  It was the largest piston engined aircraft ever to be mass-produced and was also the largest combat aircraft ever built, although there have been larger military transports.  Maiden flight August 8, 1946.

    The B-47 Stratojet jet bomber was a medium range and size bomber capable of flying at high subsonic speeds and primarily designed for penetrating the Soviet Union.  A major innovation in post WW II combat jet design, it helped lead to the development of modern jet airliners.  While it never saw combat use, it was the mainstay of the USAF Strategic Air Command strategic striking power of the 1950s Maiden flight December 17, 1947.

    The Lockhead Constellation, affectionately known as the "Connie", was four-engine propeller-driven airliner built between 1943 and 1958.  A total of 856 aircraft were produced in four models, all distinguished by a distinctive triple-tail design and graceful, dolphin-shaped fuselage.  It was used as both a civilian airliner and US military air transport plane, seeing service in the Berlin Airlift and as the presidential aircraft for President Eisenhower.  Maiden flight January 9, 1943.

    The A-10 Thunderbolt II is a singe-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft developed for the USAF to provide close air support (CAS) of ground forces by attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets, also providing a limited air interdiction role.  It is the first USAF aircraft designed exclusively for CAS.  Maiden flight May 10, 1972.

    The SR-71 is an advanced, long-range, Mach 3 strategic reconnaissance aircraft.  The SR-71 was unofficially named the 'Blackbird', and called the 'Habu' (snake) by its crews.  Being one of the first aircraft shaped to reduce its radar cross-section.  A defensive feature of the aircraft is its high speed and operating altitude; whereby if a surface-to-air missile launch was detected, standard evasive action was simply to accelerate.  The SR-71 line was in service from 1964 to 1998, with 12 of the 32 aircraft being destroyed in accindents, though none were lost to enemy action.  Maiden flight December 22, 1964.
