The MQ-1 Predator is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which the United States Air Force describes as a MALE (medium-altitude, long-endurance) UAV system. It can serve in a reconnaissance role and fire two AGM-114 Hellfire missiles. The aircraft, in use since 1995, has seen combat over Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bosnia, Serbia, Iraq, and Yemen. It is remote-controlled by humans, not an autonomous aircraft. The Predator can also self destruct. Maiden flight 1995.

The B-1 Lancer is an American supersonic strategic bomber with variable-sweep wings. Its origins began in the 1960s as a supersonic bomber with sufficient range and payload to replace the B-52 Stratofortress. Maiden flight December 23, 1974.

The Convair B-36 was a strategic bomber built by Convair for the USAF, the first operational bomber to truly have intercontinental range. Unofficially nicknamed the "Peacemaker", the B-36 was the first thermonuclear weapon delivery vehicle. The A-6 Intruder is a twin-engine, mid-wing attack aircraft. In service between 1963 and 1997, the Intruder was designed as an all-weather replacement for the piston-engined A-1 Skyraider. Maiden flight April 19, 1960.

The SR-71 is an advanced, long-range, Mach 3 strategic reconnaissance aircraft. The SR-71 was unofficially named the 'Blackbird', and called the 'Habu' (snake) by its crews. Being one of the first aircraft shaped to reduce its radar cross-section. A defensive feature of the aircraft is its high speed and operating altitude; whereby if a surface-to-air missile launch was detected, standard evasive action was simply to accelerate. The SR-71 line was in service from 1964 to 1998, with 12 of the 32 aircraft being destroyed in accindents, though none were lost to enemy action. Maiden flight December 22, 1964.


The C-5 Galaxy is a military transport aircraft designed to provide strategic heavy airlift over intercontinental distances. It is the largest American military transport and one the largest military aircraft in the world, designed to carry outsize and oversize cargo. The C-5 is one of the physically largest aircraft in the world with the ability to fly on a regular basis. Maiden flight June 30, 1968.
